Monroe County Emerges as one of Wisconsin’s Top Performers in Record-Breaking 2023 Tourism Year

Monroe County ranks as one of the biggest movers in the state.

Monroe County, WI: The 2023 Wisconsin Tourism Impact numbers have been released and Monroe County ranks as one of the biggest movers in the state.  Among the 72 Wisconsin counties, Monroe County had the highest percentage growth from 2022 to 2023 in Total Economic Impact, Direct Visitor Spending, and State and Local Taxes; and ranks 3rd in percentage of change for Employment growth.

Monroe County attributes its improvement to several key factors, including renowned festivals such as the Warrens Cranberry Festival and the Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull, which attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. Other contributors include the county’s phenomenal trail system (Elroy – Sparta Trail), the opening of new UTV/ATV access, a strong year for snowmobile trails in 2022, and significant investments in economic development and tourism.

“Monroe County is thrilled by this achievement and extends heartfelt thanks to our dedicated partners, area chambers, departments, volunteers, and staff who have been working tirelessly to make Monroe County a premier destination for travel and economic development. Their relentless efforts and commitment have been instrumental in showcasing the best our county has to offer, from our vibrant festivals to our scenic outdoor recreational opportunities. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative spirit and hard work of everyone involved in making Monroe County truly exceptional.”
