La Crosse WI: Jason Achilles returns to the Midwest, introducing his multi-instrumental / experimental rock duo to regional audiences with featured guest drummer Keith Larsen (Porcupine).
Achilles performed locally in 2022 with Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) – returning now for a brief tour in support of his Miller Lite Oasis Stage performance at Summerfest on June 22nd along with his appearance at Summerfest Tech 2024, with a side stop at the Popcorn Tavern on Friday, June 28th with Immortal Girlfriend w/Justin Urness.
Los Angeles-based Achilles is a record producer, engineer, and orchestral composer, recently attending a performance of his symphonic work at Carnegie Hall earlier this year. He entertains a healthy ‘side gig’ as an aerospace innovator, frequently giving public talks and having been featured prominently in WIRED Magazine, KTLA morning news, KCRW radio and multiple appearances on CBC Radio (Canada) for his unique efforts with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in capturing the first sounds from Mars.

Keith Larsen (of local indie luminaries Porcupine) is a proud father, session musician, educator, producer & audio engineer, fitness enthusiast, and endurance athlete. His more than 30 years of professional experience have led to notable drum session work with producers Kevin Bowe (Replacements, Johnny Lang), Ethan Allen (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Ben Harper), and Doug Grean (Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Sheryl Crow).
The duo first met in a warehouse style rehearsal facility in downtown Los Angeles as Achilles passed by Larsen’s room, put his ear to the door and, impressed by what he heard, patiently waited… and waited… for a moment to knock. They instantly bonded over a shared love of Van Halen, big drums, and Juicy Lucys.
Over the years Jason and Keith have collaborated on numerous tours & recording sessions. Together they deliver a unique musical chemistry and vibrant joy to the stage, blending rock, funk, progressive meter, and improvisation into riveting presentations of Achilles’ compositions.
