Pepin County, WI  The West Coast of Wisconsin and Visit Pepin County are excited to announce a series of community poetry reading events in collaboration with Pepin Public Library, Durand Public Library, and Stockholm Pie & General Store, set to take place this November. Thanks to a generous grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, four talented local artists, including Dan Wiemer, Soren Svedvik, Bruce Hecksel, and Leslie Stewart have created commissioned artworks inspired by the beauty and character of Lake Pepin, Pepin County, and the greater West Coast of Wisconsin region. These artworks were originally featured in conjunction with the Stockholm Art Fair and now serve as the inspiration for a new creative opportunity: community-submitted poetry.

Calling All Poets – Here’s How to Participate:

1) Create a poem of any length or style, inspired by one of the commissioned artworks.

2) Submit your poem to info@co.pepin.wi.us by October 18, 2025.

3) Include your name, location, age, and which artwork inspired your poem.

4) Attend a community poetry reading to share your work (attendance optional but encouraged).

Poetry Reading Events:

November 8 | 10 AM – 12 PM at Durand Public Library

November 15 | 1 PM – 3 PM at Pepin Public Library

November 23 | 1 PM – 3 PM at The Stockholm Opera Hall at Stockholm Pie & General Store

These events will bring together poets, artists, and community members to celebrate creative expression rooted in the local landscape. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or first-time poet, this is your chance to contribute your voice to a vibrant community project.
